Healthier Double Chocolate Baked Oats

This Healthier Double Chocolate Baked Oats is made from healthy and simple ingredients! It’s moist, ultra chocolatey, and velvety smooth.

Let’s be honest. Everybody has those days where you just want cake for breakfast. With these baked oats, you can! And it’s made with healthy ingredients that keep you full and satisfied! It’s gluten free, and naturally sweetened!

We made a video on this recipe about a year ago, and when we first tried it, we were surprised at how good it was. Moist, chocolatey, soft, and perfectly sweet!


Oats: Both rolled oats, and quick oats will work. But steel cut oats don’t blend together well.

Banana: The riper the banana, the better, because as it ripens, it gets sweeter.

Egg: The egg is what gives the baked oats structure and richness.

Maple Syrup: The maple syrup is to give the baked oats natural sweetness. Honey also works.

Vanilla Extract: A flavor enhancer.

Baking Soda: This is what makes the baked oats fluffy, and to rise.

Salt: Another flavor enhancer.

Cocoa Powder: Make sure you use unsweetened cocoa powder. 

Chocolate Chips: We love adding chocolate chips to the baked oats, because it gives it a gooey, melty texture and taste to it!

It’s also so simple! Just give all of your ingredients a quick wiz in a blender, pop it in the oven, and enjoy your cake for breakfast!

Healthier Double Chocolate Baked Oats

This Healthier Double Chocolate Baked Oats is made from healthy and simple ingredients! It’s moist, ultra chocolatey, and velvety smooth.


-1/2 cup oats (rolled or quick oats)

-1 banana

-1 large egg

-1 Tbsp. maple syrup

-1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

-1/2 tsp. baking soda

-1/4 tsp. salt

-1/4 tsp. espresso powder (optional)

-1 Tbsp. cocoa powder

-1/4 cup chocolate chips + more for top


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 10 oz. ramekin.

2. Blend together all of the ingredients together (other than the chocolate chips) until smooth, and combined.

3. Pour batter into ramekin.

4. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

5. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
