Simple Chai

If you’re looking for a cozy tea drink to make this Fall, that’s quick and easy, this is one you should definitely try! It’s perfectly infused with all the warming spices, and topped with a cold foam!

This recipe is very short and sweet. All you have to do is add milk, water, and the spices to a small saucepan, and bring that to a simmer. After that, add in the sugar and tea bags! Strain that, top with cold foam, and you are good to go! It’s almost too easy!

What makes Chai so good?

The spices! The spices are infused into the milk, and create the best flavor!

Cinnamon Sticks: The cinnamon of course, is a classic Fall flavor, and goes perfectly with this tea.

Anise Stars: This might be one you’ve never heard of! But basically, it smells EXACTLY like licorice! It’s crazy! But don’t worry, your tea won’t taste/smell like licorice. It’s just a flavor enhancer! Also, they are SO pretty!

Cardamon Pods: We LOVEEE cardamon! It smells so good, and is a great spice!

What exactly is Chai?

Chai = tea! That’s exactly what it translates to. Chai is a milky tea from India with bold warming spices, with a light caramel color.

Recipe Overview:

Water: This is the base for your tea!

Milk: We used 1% milk, but use any kind you prefer!

Sugar: Sugar just makes everything better!

Tea Bags: We’re using regular black tea!

Spices: And of course all of the spices we mentioned before!

Peeled Ginger: Ginger has a strong flavor, so all you need is a 1-inch knob of peeled ginger.

Let's make Chai Tea!

1. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, add 1 cup water, 1 cup of milk 1 cinnamon stick, broken in half, 2 anise stars, and 4 crushed cardamom pods. Bring that to a simmer for 2-3 minutes. (Make sure it doesn’t boil!)

2. Now add in 2 tsp. sugar and 2 tea bags. And let that simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

3. Strain the tea into a mug, to remove all the whole spices. And top with cold foam.
