Homemade Salted Caramel

Our Homemade Salted Caramel is super easy to make, and only requires a handful of simple ingredients, that you most likely already have on hand! Use for a topping for ice cream, or for almost any baked good!

This caramel is sweet, sticky, and buttery. We also like adding a touch of cinnamon to ours! It gives the caramel a warm and slightly more complex flavor.

What To Eat Salted Caramel With?

As we said earlier, topping this on some ice cream would be amazing, or using it in desserts that use caramel, like millionaire shortbread. The possibilities are endless, but you can also add it to desserts like cookies, cheesecake, brownies, or one of our personal favorites; homemade stroopwafels!

We hope you guys try this recipe out, and if you do, let us know how it turned out, and tag us on our Instagram, because we love seeing all of your creations! 🙂

Description

Our Homemade Salted Caramel is super easy to make, and only requires a handful of simple ingredients, that you most likely already have on hand! Use it in anything from a topping on some ice cream, to using it in almost any baked good!

Ingredients

Units Scale

2 Tbsp. water

1 cup brown sugar, packed

6 Tbsp. butter

1/4 cup light corn syrup

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 tsp. vanilla extract

1/4 tsp. salt

Instructions

1. Place a saucepan over medium heat, and add in all of your ingredients; 2 Tbsp. water, 1 cup brown sugar, 6 Tbsp. butter, 1/4 cup corn syrup, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1 tsp. vanilla extract, and 1/4 tsp. salt. Mix that constantly until everything is smooth and combined.

2. Bring the mixture to a boil. Insert a candy thermometer, and cook until it reaches 234-240 degrees F, the “soft-ball stage”. This should happen pretty quickly, within about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to go under or above that temperature.

3. Transfer the caramel to a jar, and let it cool before using it. Enjoy!
