You guys! We’ve been wanting to make these for a while now! They are just so cute, and are absolutely delicious! Like, how perfect would these be for a holiday brunch?! With the holidays coming up there will be many occasions to make these.

Ingredients:

Bread: For the bread, you want to be sure and use an unsliced loaf. A few of our favorite breads for french toast are brioche bread and challah.

Eggs: A key ingredient for french toast!

Milk: We used 1% milk, but most other types should work too!

Sugar: This recipe uses brown sugar in the custard and white sugar for the cinnamon sugar coating.

Vanilla Extract: If you’d like, you can also use vanilla beans.

Cinnamon: Cinnamon is a must. We use it both in the custard and cinnamon sugar coating.

Nutmeg: We love adding in some nutmeg because it adds such a nice flavor. We HIGHLY recommend using freshly grated nutmeg since it makes such a big difference.

Melted Butter: The butter is used both for the pan and the cinnamon sugar coating. Once the french toast cubes are cooked, lightly brush them with some melted butter so the cinnamon sugar sticks.

Once the French Toast cubes are cooked, the next step is to lightly brush them with melted butter. This assures that the cinnamon sugar will stick. Also, do this while they are still warm.

As for the toppings, we made a Homemade Vanilla Whipped Cream. Some other topping ideas are maple syrup (which we also used), fresh fruit, or Nutella! But honestly, they are already sweet enough and perfect without any toppings.

Tips and Tricks:

After making these, here are some tips that we found to make them even better!

Stale Bread: When making any French Toast, using stale bread makes for a better french toast. If it’s stale, the bread will soak up more of the custard. So if you have time, just let the bread sit out overnight.

Warming in the oven: If you aren’t serving the French toast right away, you can place it in a warm oven until you are ready to serve!

Beating the eggs: When beating the eggs, be sure to beat them very well so any parts of the egg don’t show up in your final product.

LITERALLY SO CUTE!
