Description
These Cinnamon Rolls are the best brunch recipe for Christmas morning! Soft, fluffy, gooey, and topped with an irresistible cream cheese frosting! They are practically a dream come true, and you guys are going to fall in love with these giant cinnamon rolls!
Ingredients
For the Rolls:
1 cup milk, heated to 110 degrees F
2 + 1/4 tsp. active dry yeast
1 large room temperature egg
2 Tbsp. melted butter, divided
4 Tbsp. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3 cups all-purpose flour, plus 2-4 tbsp
For the Filling:
6 Tbsp. softened butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
4 Tbsp. softened butter
4 oz. softened cream cheese
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
1. To a large bowl, add in 1 cup warm milk, 2 + 1/4 tsp. active dry yeast, 1 large egg, 1 Tbsp. melted butter, 4 Tbsp. granulated sugar, and 1/2 tsp. salt. Give that a quick whisk. Add in 3 cups all-purpose flour and mix that in with a wooden spatula. Add in 1 Tbsp. flour until the dough is no longer sticky. Knead the dough with your hands for about 3 minutes. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
2. Meanwhile, make the cinnamon filling. Mix together 6 Tbsp. softened butter, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and 1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon.
3. Once risen, lightly dust your work surface with flour and turn the dough out onto the surface. Roll out the dough into a 17 x 10 rectangle. Evenly spread out the cinnamon filling, and lengthwise, roll it up. With dental floss, cut the cinnamon roll into 8 rolls.
4. Place the rolls into a 9×13 pan, cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. Once risen, brush the rolls with the remaining 1 Tbsp. melted butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Let the rolls cool for about 15 minutes.
5. While cooling, make the frosting. In a medium sized bowl with a hand mixer, beat together 4 Tbsp. softened butter, 4 oz. softened cream cheese, and 2 tsp. vanilla extract. Slowly beat in 1 cup of powdered sugar and mix until combined.
6. Spread the frosting over the slightly warm cinnamon rolls and enjoy!

I’ve had several cinnamon rolls but never tried making any until now. These are super simple and absolutely DELISH!! They didn’t last long in our household and I’m definitely making these again soon.
Yay! That makes us so happy to hear! 🙂
I made these yesterday, they’re “ok”, but very did not turn out like the picture, light and fluffy.
And if I made these again I certainly would use more filling, not enough I think.
Oh no! Sorry to hear that they didn’t turn out as you expected. We’ve had lots of great reviews on this recipe, so we’re not sure what went wrong! If the cinnamon rolls turned out sort of dense and heavy, then the yeast was possibly killed or didn’t rise. And there should be enough filling if you roll the dough out to the proper measurements listed in the instructions. Hope this helps! 🙂
Thx
These cinnamon rolls are amazing! I hate spending a super long time making breakfast, especially when I’m hungry. I normally start making them at 9:30ish and they are done and ready to eat by 11:30ish. I am trying to make them the night before I think they will turn out great. That cream cheese frosting is to die for, I always like to add 1 tsp of cinnamon to make it perfect.
So happy you loved them!
Can i prepare these the night before and then bake the following morning? Thank you! 😊
I am wondering the same thing!
I did they overnight and they came out super! I let the dough rest during the day (probably 6 hours) and then shaped them into buns that evening to rest overnight (around 10 hours) before baking.
I’ve tried cinnamon roll recipes before and I was disappointed.
These were so easy to make.
I agree completely…
These are the BEST cinnamon rolls!!!!
My family loved them. Thank you!! 💕
So happy you loved these!
Is the yeast 2 packets + 1/4 tsp active dry yeast or is it 2 1/4 tsp. active dry yeast? Have never seen it written with a +?
Sorry for any confusion! It means 2 tsp. of yeast, plus 1/4 tsp. of yeast. Hope this helps!
There is 2 1/4 tsp in one little packet of yeast. So no need to measure it out 😉
The absolute best!!!
I’ve made these so many times in the last month since finding this recipe and I have to say they are amazing!! My son has begged me to make them over and over again. This is my go to cinnamon roll recipe because not only are they super easy to make and I usually have all the ingredients on hand, but they always turn out amazing and super light and fluffy!!
Yay! So happy to hear that!
It turned out great! it was light and fluffy, but I do think there was enough cinnamon sugar filling. I’ll try to put exstra filling in next time, but other wise, it was good and this recipe is a keeper!!!
They came out perfect. The dough recipe is a keeper. Will be making again soon.
So happy you loved it!
What is the extra 2-4 tablespoons of flour for? Is that extra to just use if the dough is still sticky? And just add one tablespoon at a time? Or is that the measurements to use to dust the work surface?
The best cinnamon roll ever, I tried it so many times and it was SOOOOOO good, I used condensed milk on the top🥰🥰🥰🥰.
My favorite Dessert 🤎🤎.
Thank you sooo much.
Thank you for such a sweet review! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed them!! 🙂
Can I make the dough the night before?
Hi Rachel! We haven’t tried making the dough for the cinnamon rolls the night before, but we don’t see any reason why that wouldn’t work. If you try it, let us know how it turns out!!
Is it possible to use this recipe in an air fryer
We haven’t tried cooking these in an air fryer, but it might work! Although we recommend cooking the cinnamon rolls in the oven for best results if that’s an option for you! Hope this helps! (:
