European Style Ham and Cheese Ciabatta Sandwich with Herbs

These European Style Ham and Cheese Ciabatta Sandwiches will have you dreaming of the French countryside. Chewy and crusty ciabatta bread spread with a honey dijon mustard and an herb butter layered with melty cheese and ham. The sandwich is warm and so good!

We love making these ham and cheese sandwiches because they are sooo easy, and you can even make them ahead of time, which makes meal prepping much simpler! Also, they are a great lunch recipe for back-to-school!

How to Make Ahead of Time:

To make these ahead of time, assemble all of the sandwiches, and follow the instructions up to right before baking the sandwiches (step 4), and instead wrap each one in aluminum foil. Place in the fridge for up to a week, and you can freeze them up to 1 month. To reheat, just remove from foil, and bake them at 300 degrees for 6-8 minutes!

When we were making these, we kept thinking of how French the sandwiches and whole aesthetic seemed to us, therefore the title! But we were also thinking of how amazing they would be to have on a picnic, and paired with some fruit, it would be the ideal picnic!

We love how the ingredients just compliment everything so perfectly, from the ham, to the cheese, the homemade herb butter, honey dijon, and of course the ciabatta roll!

We hope you guys love this recipe, and if you try it, let us know in the comments down below! Also, don’t forget to tag us on our Instagram because we love seeing what you make! 🙂

  1. Thanks so much for the simple and delicious recipe! It was a huge success with my son and his dad (which is great, since I have a lot of black forest ham in my freezer). I’m going to make more of your herb butter and freeze sandwich size dollops for the sandwiches I see in my son’s future.
