Easy Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich.

A warm, cheesy, and tender sandwich hugged by a toasted, buttery hoagie roll! This Easy Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich is perfect for weekend barbeques this Summer!

Just in time for Father’s Day! We wanted to make a simple recipe for Father’s Day that was barbeque related. And this is Sandwich is a great recipe to make just for that! It takes under 30 minutes to make, and it only requires a few ingredients!

Philly Cheesesteak is very popular in the East Coast, started in Philadelphia! The simple pairing of tender steak, provolone cheese, caramelized onions, and of course the hoagie roll produces an amazing sandwich, just begging to be served at your next summer barbeque.

Ingredients:

Shaved Steak: We got pre-shaved steak which makes this sandwich super easy, but if you decide to cut your own, be sure to slice it paper thin.

Salt and pepper: That’s the only seasoning we use, and that’s all this sandwich really needs! Use salt and pepper to taste.

Provolone Cheese: Provolone is the best cheese for Philly Cheesesteaks.

Onion: Onion is a classic ingredient in a Philly, and we like using a whole onion. It may seem like a lot, but when it caramelizes, it shrinks down.

Hoagie Rolls: Hoagie roll is traditional, but you can also use a french roll!

Butter: Butter is for toasting the buns. It makes them golden and toasty.

Mayonnaise: This is optional, but we do recommend it since it really does add a nice flavor to the sandwich!

Description

A warm, cheesy, and tender sandwich hugged by a toasted, buttery hoagie roll! This Easy Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich is perfect for weekend barbeques this Summer!

Ingredients

Units Scale

4 hoagie rolls

2 Tbsp. softened butter

1 Tbsp. oil

1 large onion, diced

14 oz. shaved steak

1/2 tsp. salt (or to taste)

1/2 tsp. pepper (or to taste)

8 slices provolone cheese

2 Tbsp. mayonnaise

Instructions

1. Slice your hoagie rolls about 3/4 of the way through. Now generously spread butter on both sides. Heat a griddle or a pan over medium heat, and toast the buns until golden. Set aside.

2. Add 1 Tbsp. of oil to the pan and sautee 1 large diced onion until dark golden brown, and caramelized. Remove the onions from heat, and transfer them to a bowl.

3. Turn heat to high, and cook 14 oz. of shaved steak. Cook on one side for about 2 minutes, then flip and season with salt and pepper, and cook for another 2 minutes. Once the steak is fully cooked, stir back in the onions.

4. On the griddle, divide the meat into 4 portions, and on top, place 2 slices of cheese on each portion. Let the cheese melt for a minute.

5. Meanwhile, spread mayonnaise over both toasted sides of the rolls. Once the cheese is fully melted, place each portion into the bun, and now you’re ready to serve!
